Raymond Squires is a Canadian businessman and philanthropist. He is the founder and chairman of the Raymond Squires Group of Companies, a conglomerate of businesses in the energy, real estate, and hospitality industries. He is also the founder of the Raymond Squires Foundation, a charitable organization that supports a variety of causes in Newfoundland and Labrador. Squires was born in St. Anthony, Newfoundland and Labrador, on February 6, 1926. He attended Memorial University of Newfoundland and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1950. After graduation, he worked in the family business, Squires Fisheries, before founding the Raymond Squires Group of Companies in 1965. Squires has been recognized for his business and philanthropic achievements. In 2003, he was awarded the Order of Canada, and in 2006, he was inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame. He has also received honorary degrees from Memorial University of Newfoundland and the University of Prince Edward Island. Squires is married to his wife, Mary, and they have three children. He is 93 years old.
