Red Holloway is an American jazz saxophonist and flutist. He is best known for his work with organists such as Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, and Brother Jack McDuff. He has also worked with many other jazz greats, including Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis. Holloway was born in Helena, Arkansas, and began playing saxophone at the age of 12. He attended the University of Arkansas, where he studied music and played in the school's jazz band. After graduating, he moved to Chicago, where he worked with many of the city's top jazz musicians. Holloway has released several albums as a leader, including Red Holloway and the Red Hot Horns (1962), Red Holloway Goes to College (1966), and Red Holloway and the Jazz Giants (1970). He has also appeared on numerous recordings as a sideman, including albums by Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, and Brother Jack McDuff. Holloway has been honored with several awards, including the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Fellowship in 2006. He is also a member of the Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame.
