Renzo Arbore is an Italian actor, director, writer, and television personality. He is best known for his work in the television show Quelli della Notte, which he hosted from 1975 to 1998. He is also the founder of the Orchestra Italiana, a jazz band. Arbore was born in Foggia, Puglia, Italy, on 24 June 1937. He studied law at the University of Naples Federico II, but left before graduating to pursue a career in entertainment. Arbore began his career as a radio presenter in the 1960s. He then moved to television, hosting the show Quelli della Notte from 1975 to 1998. He also directed and wrote several films, including Il pap'occhio (1980) and Una vita in gioco (1986). In addition to his work in television and film, Arbore is also the founder of the Orchestra Italiana, a jazz band.
