Reyna Guerra

Reyna Guerra was born on February 21, 1999, in Bronx, New York to Lidda Fuentes and Gustavo Guerra. Her father is Cuban and her mother is Puerto Rican. She was raised in Bronx, New York. Reyna discovered an interest in performance dance and began her training at an after school program in her elementary school where she learned ballet as well as other dance forms. She moved onto attend Bronx Dance Academy for middle school and at the same time joined The Midas Touch Dance Crew; the extension of Ryhtym City Hip-Hop Dance Crew famously known for being on Americas Best Dance Crew on MTV. She moved onto attending Reperprtory Company high school located in times square and branched into a love for theatre. This was the start of a whole new world. While in NYC, Reyna landed the role of Pauline in Carnegie Hall's production of West Side Story. A month later landed a principal role in New York City Center's Encore season Runaways where she worked alongside Sophia Anne Caruso, Mj Rodriguez and more under the creative team Sam Pinkleton, Jeanine Tesori, Ani Taj, and nicHi Douglas. At the age of 17, Reyna became the founder and director of Afro-Latinx an Afro-Latino dance company that celebrates the beauty of African roots in Latin America and the Caribbean. Afro-Latinx provides knowledge, awareness, and entertainment through the exploration of all cultures. Afro-Latinx embraces diversity and therefore all individuals of any race, gender and ethnicity are welcome. Afro-Latinx provides instruction in Bomba y Plena, Rumba, Salsa, Yemaya, Afro-Cuban salsa, modern, hip-hop and many more styles. The goal is to educate, entertain and unite all cultures. To introduce the representation of Afro-Latinos in society, with the hope that we all learn something to pass on.
