Robert S. Taubman is an American businessman and the Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Taubman Centers, Inc., a real estate investment trust (REIT) that owns, develops, and manages shopping centers. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. Taubman was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 27, 1953. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. He then earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School in 1977. Taubman began his career in 1977 as an analyst in the real estate department of Lehman Brothers in New York City. He joined Taubman Centers, Inc. in 1979 and was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer in 1983. He was named Chief Executive Officer in 1986 and Chairman of the Board in 1992. Taubman is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Michigan and the Board of Directors of the Detroit Economic Club. As of 2021, Robert S.
