Robin Davis was born on April 6, 1956 in American. She is an American judge who served as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia from 2008 to 2017. She was the first woman to serve as Chief Justice in West Virginia. Davis attended the University of Virginia, where she earned her bachelor's degree in 1978. She then attended the University of Virginia School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 1981. Davis began her legal career as a law clerk for the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia from 1981 to 1982. She then worked as an associate at the law firm of Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love from 1982 to 1984. She then served as a law clerk for the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia from 1984 to 1985. Davis was appointed to the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia in 1996 by Governor Gaston Caperton. She was elected to a full 12-year term in 2000 and re-elected in 2012. In 2008, she was elected Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, becoming the first woman to serve in that position. She served as Chief Justice until her retirement in 2017. Davis is married to John Davis, a former West Virginia Supreme Court Justice. They have two children.
