Ron Steele is a retired American ski jumper who was born on August 19, 1953 in Leavenworth, Washington. He is best known for his success in the sport, having won the U.S. National Ski Jumping Championship in 1977 and 1978. He also competed in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York, where he placed 11th in the individual large hill event. Steele began ski jumping at the age of 12 and was a member of the U.S. Ski Team from 1975 to 1980. He was inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2002. Steele is currently retired and lives in Leavenworth, Washington. He is married and has two children.
