Ayres wrote over 50 novels, many of which were adapted for the stage and screen. Her most famous works include The White Feather (1914), The Way of an Eagle (1915), and The House of the Arrow (1924). She also wrote several plays, including The White Feather (1915) and The House of the Arrow (1925). Ayres was a popular author in her day, and her works were translated into several languages. She was also a member of the Society of Authors and the Royal Literary Fund. Ayres died on 28 April, 1965 in London, England, UK. She was 84 years old.
