Saliya Ahangama is a former Sri Lankan cricketer, coach, and commentator. He was born on 14 September, 1959 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. Ahangama made his first-class debut in 1979 for the Sri Lanka Board President's XI against the touring Pakistan team. He played for the Sri Lanka national cricket team from 1982 to 1988, playing in 11 Test matches and 15 One Day Internationals. He scored a total of 545 runs in Test cricket and 545 runs in ODIs. Ahangama has also served as a coach for the Sri Lanka national cricket team, and as a commentator for the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. He is currently the head coach of the Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team. Ahangama has been awarded the Sri Lanka Cricket Merit Award in recognition of his services to the game. He is married to his wife, Chitra, and has two children.
