Santonio Thomas is an American professional football player who currently plays wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football at Ohio State University, where he was the MVP of the 2006 Fiesta Bowl. Thomas has been selected to four Pro Bowls and was the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII. He has also played for the New York Jets and Chicago Bears. Thomas was born on July 2, 1981 in Belle Glade, Florida. He attended Glades Central High School in Belle Glade, where he was a three-sport star in football, basketball, and track. He was a two-time All-State selection in football and was named the Palm Beach County Player of the Year as a senior. Thomas attended Ohio State University, where he played for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team from 2003 to 2005. He was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was named the MVP of the 2006 Fiesta Bowl. Thomas was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played for the Steelers from 2006 to 2009, and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007, 2008, and 2009. He was traded to the New York Jets in 2010, and played for the Jets from 2010 to 2011. He was traded to the Chicago Bears in 2012, and played for the Bears from 2012 to 2013. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014, and has played for the Buccaneers since then. Thomas has been selected to four Pro Bowls and was the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII. He has also been named to the NFL All-Decade Team for the 2000s.
