Sase Narain is a 95-year-old politician from West Demerara, British Guiana. He is a former Member of Parliament and Minister of Education in Guyana. He was born on 27 January 1925 and is the oldest living former Member of Parliament in Guyana. Narain attended Queen's College in Georgetown, Guyana, and later studied at the University of London. He was a member of the People's Progressive Party (PPP) and was elected to the National Assembly in 1961. He served as Minister of Education from 1964 to 1966. Narain was a strong advocate for the rights of the indigenous people of Guyana and was a leader in the struggle for independence from Britain. He was also a leader in the struggle for the rights of the Afro-Guyanese people. Narain is a recipient of the Order of Roraima, the highest civilian award in Guyana. He is also a recipient of the Order of Excellence, the highest award for public service in Guyana. Narain is married to his wife, Joyce, and has two children. He currently resides in Georgetown, Guyana.
