Sean O'Rourke is an Irish journalist and broadcaster. He is best known for his work on RTÉ Radio 1's Today with Sean O'Rourke show. He has also presented a number of television programmes, including Prime Time and The Week in Politics. O'Rourke was born in Portlaoise, County Laois, Ireland, on 22 May 1955. He was educated at St. Mary's CBS in Portlaoise and University College Dublin. O'Rourke began his career in journalism in 1977, when he joined the Irish Press newspaper. He then moved to RTÉ in 1982, where he worked as a reporter and presenter on a number of programmes, including Prime Time and The Week in Politics. In 2004, O'Rourke was appointed as the presenter of RTÉ Radio 1's Today with Sean O'Rourke show, which he presented until his retirement in 2020. O'Rourke has won a number of awards for his work, including the National Media Award in 2006 and the National Union of Journalists' Journalist of the Year Award in 2008.
