Haffner's most famous work is The Meaning of Hitler, which was published in 1978. In the book, Haffner examines the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany. He argues that Hitler's success was due to a combination of factors, including the German people's desire for a strong leader, the failure of the Weimar Republic, and the appeal of Nazi ideology. Haffner also wrote several other books, including The History of the German Republic (1955), The Crisis of German Democracy (1966), and The German Question (1970). Haffner died in 1999 in London. He was 91 years old.
