Sonia Pressman Fuentes is a German-born American lawyer and feminist. She was born on May 30, 1928 in Berlin, Germany, to Jewish parents. She was the oldest of three children. In 1933, her family fled Nazi Germany and settled in the United States. Fuentes attended Cornell University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in 1949. She then attended the University of Miami School of Law, where she earned her law degree in 1952. Fuentes was the first female attorney at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). She was also the first female attorney in the Office of the General Counsel of the EEOC. She was a founding member of the National Organization for Women (NOW) and served as its first legal counsel. Fuentes has written extensively about her life and her work as a feminist. She has written two books, "Equal Affections" and "Eat First - You Don't Know What They'll Give You, The Adventures of an Immigrant Family and Their Feminist Daughter".
