Stanisław Zagaja was a Polish politician and lawyer who served as the Minister of Justice from 1989 to 1991. He was born in 1925 in the city of Kraków, Poland. He graduated from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków in 1949 and went on to become a lawyer. In the 1970s, Zagaja was a member of the Solidarity movement and was arrested in 1981 for his involvement in the movement. After his release, he became a member of the Polish Parliament and was appointed Minister of Justice in 1989. He served in this position until 1991. Zagaja was a strong advocate for human rights and was a vocal critic of the communist regime in Poland. He was also a proponent of the rule of law and was instrumental in the passage of the Polish Constitution of 1997. Zagaja passed away in 2011 at the age of 86. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
