He has also written songs for many popular artists, including Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston. Dorff was born in New York City and began playing the piano at the age of five. He attended the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan and then went on to study at the Juilliard School of Music. After graduating, he began working as a session musician and arranger in New York City. In the early 1980s, Dorff moved to Los Angeles and began working as a composer for television and film.
