He is best known for his work in the field of education, particularly in the areas of curriculum development, educational technology, and educational reform. Hunt earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago in 1949 and his master's degree from the University of Michigan in 1951. He then went on to earn his doctorate in education from Harvard University in 1956. Hunt has held a number of positions in the field of education, including professor of education at the University of Michigan, director of the Center for Educational Technology at the University of Michigan, and president of the National Association for the Advancement of Curriculum and Instruction. He has also served as a consultant to numerous educational organizations, including the National Science Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the U.S. Department of Education. Hunt has authored or co-authored numerous books and articles on education, including The New Curriculum (1970), The New Technology in Education (1975), and The New School (1980). He has also served as editor of the Journal of Curriculum and Instruction and the Journal of Educational Technology.
