Sylvester Uphus is a 90-year-old American farmer who was born on 29 December, 1927 in Grove Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. He is best known for his work as a farmer and for his long-standing commitment to the community. Uphus was born to parents, John and Mary Uphus, and was raised on a farm in Grove Township. He attended school in the area and graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1945. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After his service in the Navy, Uphus returned to Grove Township and began farming. He married his wife, Mary, in 1950 and together they raised four children. Uphus has been a lifelong member of the Stearns County Farm Bureau and has served on the board of directors for the Stearns County Fair. He has also been active in the local 4-H program and has served as a 4-H leader for many years. Uphus has been recognized for his commitment to the community and was named Stearns County Farm Bureau's Man of the Year in 1997. He was also inducted into the Stearns County 4-H Hall of Fame in 2004. Uphus is estimated to have a net worth of around $1 million.
