Takahiro Mahara is a professional baseball player from Japan. He currently plays for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks in the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) league. He is a right-handed pitcher and has been playing professionally since 2003. Mahara was born on 8 December 1981 in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto, Japan. He attended Kumamoto Prefectural High School and was drafted by the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks in the 2003 NPB draft. Mahara made his NPB debut in 2004 and has since become a mainstay in the Hawks' starting rotation. He has won the Sawamura Award, given to the best pitcher in the NPB, twice in his career, in 2008 and 2011. He has also been selected to the NPB All-Star team four times. In 2020, Mahara had a record of 11-7 with a 3.45 ERA in 25 starts. He also had a career-high of 166 strikeouts. Mahara is married and has two children.
