He is the founder of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), a political pressure group in northern Nigeria. He was a member of the Nigerian Constituent Assembly that drafted the 1979 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Yakasai was a member of the Nigerian Senate from 1979 to 1983. He was also a member of the Supreme Military Council from 1975 to 1979. He was the Minister of Works and Housing from 1983 to 1985. Yakasai is currently 98 years old. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 70 kg. Yakasai is married to Hajiya Zainab Yakasai and they have four children. Yakasai has an estimated net worth of $1 million.
