Theresa Greenfield

Theresa Greenfield is an American political candidate running for a United States Senate seat in Iowa in the 2020 election. She is a member of the Democratic party.

Theresa declared her candidacy for the 2020 Senate elections on June 3, 2019. Since declaring her candidacy, she has mainly run on the platforms of expanding the Affordable Care Act, increasing retirement security, getting big money out of politics, adding jobs to strengthen the economy, and making sure rural communities have the tools and infrastructure they need to thrive. She has been endorsed by current and former politicians including Dave Loebsack and Abby Finkenauer. Her campaign has continued to gain in momentum as more politicians come forward to endorse her candidacy and recent polls have projected her only trailing incumbent Senator Joni Ernst by 1%. The primary election will take place primarily through mail-in balloting as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic closing many in-person voting stations across the state, and the results will be announced June 2, 2020.

Theresa ran for Iowa's 3rd congressional district in the 2018 midterm elections. She was removed from the primary election on March 19, 2018, after her campaign manager admitted to forging signatures to meet the quota needed to run for the office.

Born in Bricelyn, Minnesota, and raised on Greenfield Farm with her four siblings, where she and her sister were responsible for the family's crop-dusting business. She attended Iowa Lakes Community College and Iowa State University before going to study Urban and Regional Planning at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota. Upon graduating, she would go on to become an urban planner before being named president of Rottlund Homes of Iowa in 2007. She would later become president of Colby Interests, one of the oldest real estate businesses in Iowa.
