Thomas Astruc is a French animator, director, and screenwriter. He is best known for creating the animated television series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. He was born on 18 January 1975 in Paris, France. Astruc began his career in animation in the late 1990s, working as an animator on various French television series. In 2003, he wrote and directed his first short film, La Vieille Dame et les Pigeons. He then went on to work as a storyboard artist and director on several French animated series, including Code Lyoko, Wakfu, and The Daltons. In 2013, Astruc created the concept for Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, which he co-developed with Jeremy Zag. The series premiered in 2015 and has since become a global success, airing in over 120 countries. Astruc has also written and directed several short films, including La Vieille Dame et les Pigeons, La Chanson de la Pluie, and La Chanson de la Pluie 2.
