On May 22, 2006, he was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars and was released before the season started on August 14. In his career, he had 629 punts (41.2 yards average), 189 punts downed inside the 20 yard-line and his longest was a 72-yarder.
Gowin signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons on March 8, 2005. He was waived on August 26.
He signed on March 31, 2004, with the New York Jets and wasn't re-signed at the end of the season.

Gowin was signed by the Dallas Cowboys on March 3, 2003. He injured his thigh in training camp, which affected his play, ranking 28th in the league with a gross average of 39 yards and 16th with a net average of 34.9 yards. He was sixth in the NFC with 25 punts inside the 20-yard line. He was waived on March 10, 2004.
He was signed as a restricted free agent by the New Orleans Saints in 2000, after the Cowboys did not match the Saints three-year offer. In 2002, he finished sixth in the NFC with a 41.9-yards gross average and a 36.9 net average.
Gowin was signed by the Dallas Cowboys in 1997 as an undrafted free agent, with the intention of replacing free agent John Jett. He made the team because of his leg strength and ability to both punt and handle kickoffs. As a rookie, he had a 41.8 yards gross average (third highest average by a Cowboys rookie) and a 35.4 yards net average, while landing 26 punts inside the 20-yard line.
He would move on to the University of North Texas, where he was a four-year starter while handling the punting and kickoff duties. As a sophomore, he received All-SLC honors with a 36.1 yards average. He finished his senior season 15th in the nation with a 44.3 yards average, All-Big West and third-team All-American honors. His 92-yard punt against Vanderbilt in 1996 stands as the longest in school history and his 89 punts for 3,946 yards as a senior are both school records.
