Tom Adair was an American songwriter and composer who wrote the lyrics for the popular song "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" and the theme song for the television show "The Mickey Mouse Club." He also wrote the lyrics for the song "The Ballad of the Green Berets" and the theme song for the television show "The Rifleman." Adair was born in Newton, Kansas, and attended the University of Kansas. He began his career as a songwriter in the 1930s, and his songs were recorded by artists such as Bing Crosby, Gene Autry, and Roy Rogers. Adair was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1971. He died in Los Angeles, California, in 1998.
