He has written over 30 books, including novels, short stories, and essays. He has also written for various newspapers and magazines. Zhechev was born in Divdyadovo, Shumen, Bulgaria. He studied at the University of Sofia, where he graduated with a degree in Bulgarian philology. After graduation, he worked as a journalist and editor for various newspapers and magazines. Zhechev is a member of the Bulgarian Writers' Union and the Bulgarian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association. He has won numerous awards for his works, including the Golden Pen Award for Best Novel in Bulgaria in 2006. Zhechev's works have been translated into several languages, including English, French, German, and Spanish. He is considered one of the most influential Bulgarian writers of the 20th century.
