Silver was born on April 24, 1953 in New Britain, Connecticut. She began playing music at a young age, learning to play the piano, guitar, and bass. She attended the University of Connecticut, where she studied music and art. In 1976, Silver formed the band The B-52s with her friends Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, and Cindy Wilson. The band released their debut album in 1979 and went on to become one of the most successful new wave bands of the 1980s. Silver played bass and keyboards for the band and co-wrote several of their songs. In addition to her work with The B-52s, Silver has released several solo albums, including "Trudy Silver" (1982), "The Other Side" (1984), and "The Best of Trudy Silver" (1995). She has also collaborated with a variety of other artists, including David Byrne, Iggy Pop, and The Ramones. Silver is currently living in Athens, Georgia. She continues to perform and record music, and is also an active member of the Athens music scene.
