Uri Sivan is an Israeli physicist and the current President of the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion). He was born in 1955 in Haifa, Israel. Sivan received his B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from the Technion in 1977 and his Ph.D. in Physics from the Weizmann Institute of Science in 1982. He then joined the Technion faculty, where he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Physics from 1995 to 1998. In 2002, Sivan was appointed President of the Technion, a position he held until 2014. During his tenure, he was credited with transforming the Technion into a world-class research university. Sivan is a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities and a Fellow of the American Physical Society. He has received numerous awards, including the Israel Prize in Physics in 2004 and the Rothschild Prize in Physics in 2006. As of 2021, Uri Sivan's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.

Sivan set up and led the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Research Institute at Technion from 2005 to 2010, and in 2017 he set up the National Advisory Committee for Quantum Science and Technology of the Council for Higher Education's Planning and Budgeting Committee.
