Vasile Drăguț was born in Romania on 9 January, 1928. He was a Romanian politician and diplomat who served as the Prime Minister of Romania from December 1989 to April 1990. He was a member of the National Salvation Front, a coalition of anti-communist parties that overthrew the communist regime in Romania in 1989. Drăguț was born in the village of Bălănești, in the county of Gorj, Romania. He studied law at the University of Bucharest and later worked as a lawyer. He was a member of the National Peasants' Party and was elected to the Romanian Parliament in 1972. He served as Minister of Justice from 1982 to 1989. In December 1989, Drăguț was appointed Prime Minister of Romania by President Ion Iliescu. He served in this position until April 1990, when he was replaced by Petre Roman. After leaving office, Drăguț continued to be active in politics and served as a member of the Romanian Senate from 1992 to 1996. Drăguț died on 28 April, 2021 at the age of 95. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
