Vaughn Horton was an American composer, arranger, and music director. He was best known for his work on the television series The Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, and Green Acres. He also wrote the theme songs for the shows. Horton was born in Broad Top, Pennsylvania, and began his career as a musician in the 1930s. He worked as a music director for various radio programs, including The Jack Benny Program and The Burns and Allen Show. He also wrote music for films, including The Big Sleep and The Man Who Knew Too Much. Horton was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on The Beverly Hillbillies in 1964. He was also nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on the soundtrack of the film The Man Who Knew Too Much. Horton died in Los Angeles, California, on April 28, 1996, at the age of 84.
