Velta Skurstene is a Latvian actress who has been active in the entertainment industry since the 1950s. She is best known for her roles in the films "The Red Poppy" (1956), "The White Bird Marked with Black" (1958), and "The Sun of the Sleepless" (1960). Skurstene was born on 19 December 1930 in Talsi, Latvia. She studied at the Latvian State Conservatory and graduated in 1954. She began her career in the theater, performing in productions of "The Cherry Orchard" and "The Seagull". In 1956, Skurstene made her film debut in the Latvian-Soviet co-production "The Red Poppy". She went on to appear in several other films, including "The White Bird Marked with Black" (1958), "The Sun of the Sleepless" (1960), and "The White Bird Marked with Black" (1962). Skurstene has also appeared in numerous television series, including "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" (1962), "The Adventures of Tintin" (1963), and "The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe" (1966). Skurstene has been married twice and has two children. She currently resides in Riga, Latvia. As of 2021, she is 91 years old.
