Veselin Đuranović was born on 17 May 1925 in Danilovgrad, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. He is a Montenegrin politician who served as the President of Montenegro from 1991 to 1998. He was a member of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia and the Socialist Party of Montenegro. Đuranović studied law at the University of Belgrade and graduated in 1950. He then worked as a lawyer in Danilovgrad and later in Podgorica. In the 1950s, he was a member of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia and the Socialist Party of Montenegro. In the 1960s, Đuranović was appointed to various positions in the Montenegrin government, including Minister of Justice and Minister of the Interior. In the 1970s, he was appointed as the President of the Executive Council of Montenegro. In 1991, Đuranović was elected as the President of Montenegro. During his presidency, he was a strong advocate for Montenegrin independence from Yugoslavia. He was re-elected in 1996 and served until 1998. Đuranović is currently retired and lives in Podgorica. He is 72 years old.
