She is best known for her feature films, such as The Summer of Sangaile (2015), which won the Best Director Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and The Summer of Aviya (2018). She has also directed several short films, including The Last Day of Summer (2009), which won the Best Short Film Award at the Vilnius International Film Festival. Vita Zelakeviciute was born on April 20, 1959 in Vilnius, Lithuania. She studied film directing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, graduating in 1983.
