Vitaliy Koval is a Ukrainian politician who has served as the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine since 2019. He was born on 28 July 1981 in the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine. Koval graduated from the Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics in 2003 with a degree in Radioelectronics and Telecommunications. He then went on to earn a PhD in Technical Sciences from the same university in 2008. Koval began his political career in 2006 when he was elected to the Kharkiv City Council. He served as the Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv from 2010 to 2014. In 2014, he was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. In 2019, he was appointed as the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine. Koval is married and has two children. He is a member of the Ukrainian People's Party.
