Vittorio Gregotti is an Italian architect and architectural theorist. He is best known for his work on the renovation of the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy, and for his involvement in the design of the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, Spain. He has also designed several other stadiums, including the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy, and the Stadio delle Alpi in Turin, Italy. Gregotti was born in Novara, Piedmont, Italy, on 10 August 1927. He studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, graduating in 1954. He then worked as an assistant professor at the University of Venice from 1954 to 1959. Gregotti has been involved in the design of numerous stadiums, including the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy, the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, Spain, the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy, and the Stadio delle Alpi in Turin, Italy. He has also designed several other buildings, including the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome, Italy, and the Palazzo della Regione in Turin, Italy. Gregotti has written several books on architecture, including The Architecture of the City (1966), The Language of Architecture (1972), and The Open City (1985). Gregotti is a member of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and a member of the Accademia di San Luca. He worked as a contributor to Casabella, an architectural magazine, and was its editor-in-chief from 1955 to 1963. Gregotti founded his own studio, Gregotti Associati International, in 1974 but also lectured on architectural theory and curated several exhibits in Italy.
