Werner H. Kramarsky is a Dutch-born American businessman and philanthropist. He is the founder and chairman of the Kramarsky Family Foundation, a philanthropic organization that supports education, health, and the arts. He is also the founder and chairman of the Kramarsky Family Fund, which provides grants to organizations that promote social justice and economic opportunity. Kramarsky was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 1926. He immigrated to the United States in 1947 and attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a degree in economics. After graduation, he worked in the banking industry in New York City. In the late 1950s, Kramarsky founded the Kramarsky Family Foundation, which has since provided grants to numerous organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Jewish Committee, and the National Endowment for the Arts. He also established the Kramarsky Family Fund, which provides grants to organizations that promote social justice and economic opportunity. Kramarsky has been honored for his philanthropic work, receiving the National Humanities Medal in 2004 and the National Medal of Arts in 2006. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Kramarsky is married to his wife, Ruth, and they have two children. He currently resides in New York City.
