William Amakye is a Ghanaian athlete who was born on 25 September, 1958 in Ghana. He is best known for his achievements in the field of athletics, particularly in the long jump and triple jump. He is a two-time African champion in the long jump and triple jump, and a two-time Olympian. Amakye began his career in athletics in the early 1980s, competing in the long jump and triple jump. He won his first African title in the long jump in 1983, and followed it up with a triple jump title in 1985. He went on to compete in the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games, finishing in the top 10 in both events. Amakye has also won several medals at the All-Africa Games, including gold medals in the long jump and triple jump in 1987 and 1995. He also won a bronze medal in the long jump at the 1991 World Championships. Amakye is currently the head coach of the Ghanaian national athletics team. He is also a member of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Hall of Fame. As of 2021, William Amakye's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
