William Yurko is a Canadian politician who served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1971 to 1986. He was born on 11 February 1926 in Hairy Hill, Alberta, Canada. Yurko was educated at the University of Alberta, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950. He then attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he received a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1952. Yurko was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in 1971, representing the riding of Vegreville-Viking. He was re-elected in 1975, 1979, and 1982. He served as a cabinet minister in the government of Peter Lougheed from 1975 to 1986, holding the portfolios of Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Municipal Affairs, and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs. Yurko retired from politics in 1986 and returned to the practice of law. He is currently a partner in the law firm of Yurko, Saler & Associates in Edmonton. Yurko is 84 years old.
