Willy Buer was born on 8 June, 1928 in Norway. He is a former Norwegian footballer who played as a forward for the Norwegian national team. He is considered one of the greatest Norwegian footballers of all time. Buer began his career with the local club, FK Fyllingen, in 1945. He then moved to the top-flight club, SK Brann, in 1948. He was part of the team that won the Norwegian Cup in 1951. He also played for the Norwegian national team from 1949 to 1956, scoring 11 goals in 24 appearances. Buer retired from football in 1957 and went on to become a successful businessman. He was the chairman of the Norwegian Football Association from 1975 to 1979. Buer was awarded the Order of St. Olav in 1979 for his contributions to Norwegian football. He was also inducted into the Norwegian Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
