Win Myint is a Burmese politician and businessman who has served as the President of Myanmar since 2018. He was born on 21 April 1954 in Thayet, Magway Division, Burma (now Myanmar). He is a member of the National League for Democracy (NLD). Myint studied at the University of Yangon, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the same university. Myint began his career as a lecturer at the University of Yangon in 1982. He then went on to become a Member of Parliament in the Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House) in 2012. In 2016, he was appointed as the Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw. Myint was elected as the President of Myanmar in 2018. He is the first civilian president of the country since the military coup in 1962. Myint is married to Khin Khin Win and they have two children.
