Wu Yongwen is a Chinese politician who served as the Governor of Hubei Province from 2003 to 2007. He was born in 1952 in Jingmen, Hubei Province. He graduated from the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China in 1982 and joined the Communist Party of China in 1983. Wu Yongwen began his political career in 1983 when he was appointed as the Deputy Secretary of the Jingmen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. He then served as the Deputy Secretary of the Wuhan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China from 1988 to 1993. In 1993, he was appointed as the Secretary of the Wuhan Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. In 2003, Wu Yongwen was appointed as the Governor of Hubei Province. During his tenure, he was credited with improving the province's economy and infrastructure. He also worked to improve the environment and public health in the province. In 2007, he was replaced as Governor of Hubei Province by Li Hongzhong. Wu Yongwen is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. He is also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He is married and has two children.

In December 1997, he was appointed the vice-mayor of Jingmen, and then Deputy Communist Party Secretary, beginning in June 2000.
