Xu Xianping is a Chinese politician who has served as the Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee since 2013. He was born on October 1, 1954 in Beijing, China. Xu Xianping graduated from the Beijing Institute of Technology in 1977 with a degree in electrical engineering. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in engineering from the same institute in 1982. Xu Xianping began his political career in 1982 when he was appointed as the Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League. He then went on to serve as the Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China from 1985 to 1988. In 1988, Xu Xianping was appointed as the Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. He then went on to serve as the Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China from 1992 to 1998. Xu Xianping was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee in 2013. He has also served as the Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions since 2013. Xu Xianping is estimated to have a net worth of around $1 million.

He served as deputy director of National Development and Reform Commission between May 2009 and February 2015, and vice-governor of Hunan from January 2003 to May 2009.

Xu was born in Longhui County, Hunan in October 1954. In March 1973, during the Down to the Countryside Movement, he became a sent-down youth in Dachong Commune of Qianyang County.
