Zahir Uddin Ahmed is a Bangladeshi politician and the current Member of Parliament for Gazipur-2. He was born on 1957 in Gazipur District, Bangladesh. He is a member of the Bangladesh Awami League. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Dhaka in 1979. He then went on to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the same university in 1981. He began his political career in 1982 when he was elected as a Member of Parliament for Gazipur-2. He has since been re-elected to the same seat in the 2008, 2014 and 2018 general elections. He has held various ministerial positions in the government of Bangladesh, including Minister of State for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Minister of State for Social Welfare, and Minister of State for Primary and Mass Education.
