He is also the non-executive chairman of Vodafone India. Singh was born in New Delhi on 11 January 1954. He graduated from St. Stephen's College, Delhi, with a degree in Economics. He then went on to pursue an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Singh began his career in the corporate world in 1979, when he joined the family business, Max India. He was appointed as the Managing Director of the company in 1985. Under his leadership, the company diversified into healthcare, life insurance, and financial services. In addition to his business interests, Singh is also involved in philanthropic activities. He is the founder of the Max India Foundation, which works to improve the lives of the underprivileged in India. He is also the founder of the Leeu Collection, a luxury hotel chain.
