Anatoly Shesteryuk is a Russian-born Uzbekistani politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan since 2016. He was born in Xorazm Region, Uzbekistan, on 6 July 1952. Shesteryuk graduated from the Tashkent State University of Economics in 1975 and began his career as an economist in the Ministry of Finance of the Uzbek SSR. He then served as the Deputy Minister of Finance from 1991 to 1995, and as the Minister of Finance from 1995 to 2003. In 2003, Shesteryuk was appointed as the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, a position he held until 2016. During his tenure, he was credited with introducing a number of economic reforms, including the liberalization of the currency exchange rate and the privatization of state-owned enterprises. In 2016, Shesteryuk was appointed as the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan for a second time. He has since been credited with introducing a number of reforms aimed at improving the country's economy, including the introduction of a new tax code and the liberalization of the foreign exchange market.
