Andrew Lambert is a British historian and professor of naval history at King's College London. He was born on 31 December 1956 in England, United Kingdom. He is 64 years old as of 2021. Lambert studied at the University of Cambridge, where he earned a BA in history in 1979 and a PhD in 1985. He has held a number of academic posts, including at the University of Oxford, the University of London, and King's College London. He is the author of numerous books on naval history, including The Foundations of Naval History: John Knox Laughton, the Royal Navy and the Historical Profession (1998), Admirals: The Naval Commanders Who Made Britain Great (2008), and War at Sea in the Age of Sail (2011). He has also written for a number of newspapers and magazines, including The Times, The Guardian, and The Spectator. Lambert is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is also a member of the Council of the National Maritime Museum.
