Angelo Poffo was an American professional wrestler, actor, and promoter. He was best known for his time in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He was the father of wrestlers Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo. Poffo was born on April 10, 1925 in Downers Grove, Illinois. He began his wrestling career in the 1950s, competing in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). He was a two-time NWA World Tag Team Champion with his brother, "Leaping" Lanny Poffo. In the 1980s, Poffo joined the WWF, where he was known as "The Carpetbagger" and "The Masked Miser". He was a manager for wrestlers such as "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. He also competed in the ring, winning the WWF Tag Team Championship with Savage in 1986. In the 1990s, Poffo joined WCW, where he was known as "The Master of the Miser". He was a manager for wrestlers such as "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The Total Package" Lex Luger. He also competed in the ring, winning the WCW World Tag Team Championship with Luger in 1992. Poffo retired from wrestling in 1997. He died on May 20, 2010 at the age of 85. Angelo Poffo had an estimated net worth of $2 million at the time of his death.
