He is best known for his poetry collections, including The Poet's Voice (1962), The Poet's Eye (1966), and The Poet's Heart (1970). Richmond studied at the University of London, where he earned a degree in English Literature. He then went on to teach English at the University of Guyana. He has also served as a lecturer at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.
