Anita Lasker-Wallfisch is a German-British cellist and Holocaust survivor. She was born in Breslau, Germany (now Wrocław, Poland) on 17 July 1925. She was the youngest of three children of a Jewish family. Her father, Max Lasker, was a lawyer and her mother, Regina Lasker, was a pianist. In 1942, Anita and her family were deported to Auschwitz concentration camp. She was separated from her parents and siblings and sent to the women's camp. She was later transferred to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where she was liberated in 1945. After the war, Anita moved to England and studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She became a professional cellist and performed with the English Chamber Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. She also taught cello at the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Anita has written two books about her experiences during the Holocaust: Inherit the Truth: A Memoir of Survival and Music of Life. She has also been featured in several documentaries, including the Emmy Award-winning documentary, The Long Way Home. Anita Lasker-Wallfisch is 96 years old and has a net worth of $1 million.
