Appunidage Premachandra is a Sri Lankan politician and former Member of Parliament. He was born on 18 May 1953 in the village of Kudagama in the Kurunegala District. He was educated at the University of Peradeniya and the University of Colombo. Premachandra was first elected to Parliament in 1989 as a member of the United National Party (UNP). He served as the Minister of Education from 1994 to 2000. He was re-elected in 2000 and served as the Minister of Health from 2001 to 2004. Premachandra is currently the Chairman of the UNP and a member of the party's Central Working Committee. He is also the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP). Premachandra is married to Dr. Anoma Premachandra and has two children. His net worth is estimated to be around $2 million.
