Arnaldo Baptista is a Brazilian musician, composer, and actor. He is best known for his work with the Brazilian rock band Os Mutantes, which he co-founded in 1966. He has also released several solo albums, and acted in films and television series. Baptista was born in São Paulo, Brazil, on 6 July 1948. He began playing music at an early age, and by the time he was a teenager he was playing in local bands. In 1966, he co-founded the psychedelic rock band Os Mutantes with his brother Sérgio Dias and Rita Lee. The band released several albums and toured extensively, becoming one of the most influential bands in Brazilian music. In the 1970s, Baptista left Os Mutantes and began a solo career. He released several solo albums, including Arnaldo Baptista (1975), A Tábua de Esmeralda (1977), and A Curva da Cintura (1980). He also acted in several films and television series, including the Brazilian soap opera Roque Santeiro (1985). In the 1990s, Baptista reunited with Os Mutantes and the band released several albums and toured extensively. In 2006, he released his first solo album in over 20 years, A Vida é um Rock'n'Roll. Baptista is currently living in São Paulo, Brazil. He continues to perform and record music, and is considered one of the most influential figures in Brazilian music.
